DREAM Classes
DREAM is not just a curriculum. It's a philosophy. Whilst rote learning is popular in India today, it is their life skills and personal development that propel young people to live their dreams. The DREAM team tailor our teaching methods to holistically develop all these aspects. We work on building these soft skills, whilst giving children the hard skills to achieve their ambitions with confidence.
English (Senjimottur, Arni, Kasam, Viruthampet)
Every week, our DREAM team treks out to the rural areas of Senjimottur, Arni, Kasam and Viruthampet, where we run creative and fun classes for the children every week, using techniques from growing seedlings and creative shoe-box farms through to yoga for team building!
Children in these areas come from very poor agricultural families, and many will not stay through to the end of primary school. Seb's Projects has been working with these schools since 2003 to develop both the infrastructure, teaching capacity and educational techniques to make this a vibrant and exciting centre of learning.
Computer Skills (Senjimottur, Arni, Kasam, Viruthampet)
Whilst computer education has become a compulsory part of education in India today, with a booming software development industry, hands-on computer education is still just a dream for many.
The majority of rural schools have only one, if any, computers, and children are often prohibited from using the computers. In DREAM lessons, every child has the opportunity to experience the world of computers in a fun and supportive environment.
Our DREAM program in these rural areas works not only to provide individual attention to children who are learning about this amazing technology, but also to ensure that our rural schools have the infrastructure and technology to help these children realise their full capacity with computers.
Workshops
DREAM seeks to make a real, lasting difference to the quality of rural education in government and aided schools. To do this, we know that the teachers are the ones who make the difference. Igniting passion and creativity in a teacher can have an impact on thousands of young lives.
This is why, every year, Seb's taps the energy, enthusiasm and skill of experts in the teaching field to help our teachers develop their skills as purveyors of really exciting education.
Camps
Sometimes the greatest development happens when we are having fun! During the summer months the DREAM team gathers enthusiastic students and professionals alike to go out to rural schools and teach what they know- from classical singing and crafts through to volleyball and track and field.
