Building a business is just a dream for many of the women sleeping rough on the pavements in India. Illiteracy, lack of documents, exploitation and fear stop so many women from doing what it takes to lift their families out of poverty, even though so many are more than capable.



But with a little help, we can make it happen. The women need to learn the skills, and get the documents necessary to set up accounts and identify themselves. They need a pledge of support from public authorities. And they need funds to invest. For most women, it takes just 20,000 Rs to take them from rag pickers to successful business owners.
